Synchronising restaurant information across 100+ locations

Challenge

Local details had to stay accurate as the network grew

Costa Vida’s WordPress website served a restaurant network of more than 100 locations across the United States and Canada. For customers, the website is a route to finding a nearby restaurant, checking its details, joining rewards and placing an online order. For the business, it needs to keep local information consistent as the franchise network grows. The same experience also has to work across phones and larger screens because location discovery and ordering often happen while customers are mobile.

As the franchise network expanded, store hours, addresses and availability needed to stay accurate across individual restaurant pages. Repeated manual updates would take time from franchise teams and increase the risk that customers saw outdated details. The website also needed to connect with the ordering system, work well on mobile devices and make nearby locations easier to find through search. Performance, security and dependable browsing were part of that requirement, alongside an architecture able to accommodate new restaurant pages.

Solution

Keeping location information in sync

The WordPress build connected to a shared location-data service that acts as the source for restaurant information. It automatically synchronised hours, addresses and availability, while new locations could be added programmatically. Franchise teams no longer had to repeat those updates manually on the website.

A local-search integration generated structured location information for search engines, helping each restaurant page describe its address, opening hours and services consistently. Together, those integrations kept the customer-facing pages aligned with the business systems used to manage locations and transactions. Costa Vida’s current directory organises restaurants by state and city. Individual location pages show contact details and connect customers with online ordering.

The site connected visitors to mobile-friendly online ordering and rewards sign-up, while its pages passed all Core Web Vitals. After the rebuild, total website users increased by 33%, and the website attracted more than three million visitors annually.
